About Us: Katherine
Karuschkat
Katherine Karuschkat grew up
in New York. She moved to the
Denver metropolitan area in
1972. While working through her
own divorce, Katherine attended
Community College of Denver and
received an Associate of Science
degree in Paralegal Studies in
1981. She worked in law firms as
a paralegal and office manager
for several years while
attending Regis College,
receiving her Bachelors of
Science degree in Business
Administration and Economics in
1986. Katherine attended Denver
University College of Law and
received her law degree in 1989.
Katherine has owned and
operated her own practice since
1989. She represents hundreds of
men, women, children and
organizations work through the
difficult and confusing legal
system.
Katherine believes in giving
back to the community. Her pro
bono work includes teaching a
class entitled “How to Do Your
Own Divorce” for the Colorado
Bar Association, volunteering
for the Colorado Disaster
Response Team, Law News 9, Viet
Nam Veterans Stand-Down,
Colorado Legal Initiatives
Project, The Center, Colorado
Lawyers for the Arts, and
Project Angel Heart, and Women’s
Law Caucus. Through the Grand
County Blues Society, Katherine
has helped organize and
participate in several
fundraisers for Hurricane
Katrina, such as the Tab Benoit
Golf Classic and projects
sponsored by the Voice of the
Wetlands.
In addition to being an avid
Blues fan, Katherine is an
experienced jeweler. She makes
some of the most beautiful
necklaces in town! It isn’t
surprising, when you learn that
Katherine comes from an artistic
family, as her Mother attended
the New York Institute of Art
back in the 1940’s. Katherine is
often asked to contribute some
of her jewelry to raise money
for good causes, which she does
on a regular basis.
Another form of art that
Katherine enjoys is public
speaking. She has presented
before many audiences, including
the Colorado Legislative
Committee. She has lectured on
issues such as Elder Abuse, and
has been a featured speaker for
custody and divorce issues.
Katherine is a member of the
Colorado Bar Association, Denver
Bar Association, the Colorado
Trial lawyers Association, the
Metropolitan Denver
Interdisciplinary Committee,
Denver Metro Better Business
Bureau, Colorado Blues Society,
and Grand County Blues Society.
She is licensed to practice in
all of Colorado State, County,
and Municipal Courts, as well as
the U.S. Court for the District
of Colorado, and the U.S. 10th
Circuit Court of Appeals.
Through her many years of
providing legal services,
Katherine is well known and
respected in the legal, mental
health, and business
communities.
